Urik Updates to v0.15.0 Beta: Better Control, Improved Swipe, and New Layouts

The open-source Urik keyboard (a privacy-focused Android alternative) just rolled out a fresh v0.15.0-beta update with several improvements worth checking out.

Among the most interesting changes are optimized layouts for larger devices, including one-handed mode and split-screen support. There’s also a dedicated button to quickly switch between languages and the ability to remap keys based on long-press actions. The update introduces QWERTZ and AZERTY layouts, adds a toggle for auto-capitalization, and features better swipe path recognition for more accurate typing. You can now export and import the app’s learned word database too, which comes in handy when switching phones.

The long-press menu also now includes the semicolon, a small but welcome addition.

Beyond the new features, this release fixes several bugs, including the annoying uncontrolled vibrations when using the backspace key.
