OpenAI has introduced Prism, a workspace designed for researchers and scientists who write academic papers. It’s a LaTeX-based editor (the formatting language used in academia) that integrates GPT-5.2 to assist with drafting, revision, and document preparation.
The platform stems from OpenAI’s acquisition of Crixet, a cloud-based LaTeX editor that has now been reworked. Prism is currently free for anyone with a personal ChatGPT account, with unlimited projects and collaborators. Access for Business, Enterprise, and Education plans will follow later.
A very niche tool, in short, aimed at those who live and breathe papers and publications.
